Cost Considerations
Air-to-air heat pumps cost less to install than geothermal heat pumps, but they can cost more to run because air temperature varies widely, whereas ground temperature remains relatively constant. Air-to-air heat pumps cost around $1,000, compared with $3,000 for geothermal heat pumps.
